The Ark foundation is a Christian, non-profit-non political and non Governmental organization. The organization sees the need for purposeful and meaningful development of the underprivileged. We provide and promote services for spiritual, educational, healthy, and economic well-being of the rural and urban communities.
With the HIV/AIDS scourge in Nigeria, we have explored ways to meet the challenges of providing love, care and support for children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and their care givers. We also facilitate treatment.
The organization which started activities in 1996 but got its certificate of registration with the Benue State Government in 2002.
We envision a society where orphans and vulnerable children and the underprivileged are afforded equal opportunity and rights to basic education, knowledge of Christ and are empowered in all ramifications to live healthy lives and national development. PARTNERSHIP AND COLLABORATION
Consultations with the traditional institutions schools and religious groups in form of a pirot survey had yielded positive results and it is hoped that we will partner with these established institutions for effective implementation.
In this regard, traditional rulers, school heads and religious leaders will be involved in youth mobilization and mentoring. Also monitoring of effective implementation and impact assessment will be attained through this partnership.
NEED FOR THE PROGRAM
The program is aimed at empowering youth for success in life. It centers on the social, moral and educational upbringing of youth to enable them attain their full potentials in life.
The choices young people make at early age can change their lives completely. They need understanding that in every situation they do have choices and their actions have consequences. Too often young people only consider the short term results of their actions. They do not consider that a decision they make today could have a very grave impact in the future.
The purpose of this program is to equip youth to make good choices that will protect their life, health integrity as well as the health and influence of other youths and their future.
The gap this program will bridge is the fact that the project will focus on issues that one neglected particularly to youth from less advantaged backgrounds and hart to reach areas. The program will be unique both in content and approach as it will be designed for holistic development of the youth. The program will have multiplier effect as it will be designed for continuous step down among the youth and their mentors.

Many youth in this areas face exciting moments which demand for counseling and mentoring to encourage them make informed decisions.
PROBLEMS TO BE ADDRESSED
i. To reduce the rate of HIV transmission among youth by 75%
ii. To increase by more than 75% number of youth that are free from drug and substance abuse.
iii. Improve communication relationship between youth and adult mentors.
iv. Encourage youth for good career choice and job placement.
v. Expose youth to excursions and social outings to avoid peer pleasure.
vi. To reduce crime and conflict among youth.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE
i. To care and support orphans.
ii. To promote literacy basic education and provide background for further learning.
iii. Care and support for orphans and care givers.
iv. Establish liaison and collaboration with agencies NGOs, CBOs, and CSOs of like minds in the efforts aimed at improving the living standard of the rural and urban dwellers.
v. Promoting personal hygiene, environmental health and reproductive health.
vi. Sourcing and distributing relief materials to refugees and destitutes, natural disaster victims, the disadvantaged orphans and the disabled.
vii. Counseling – spiritual, psychological, emotional medical and economical.
viii. Tackling HIV/AID scourge, preventive measures and care for people living with AIDS, (PLWA).
